A Simple Fall Outfit For Sunday Brunch

I don’t know about you, but fall is probably my favorite season. I know, I know… everyone says that. But I really mean it. There’s just something about all the trees changing colors, football on the T.V., fall candles, pumpkins, and snuggling up on the couch with a fuzzy blanket to watch Hocus Pocus before Halloween. And of course, fall outfits.

Sweaters, scarves, and boots, oh my! It’s possibly the best season to dress for – minimal effort to look your cutest and feel your best. Jeans and leggings are easy bottoms that you can pair with just about anything (and involve no shaving #AMEN… am I right, ladies?) Throw on some boots – tall or ankle booties, and you’re good to go!

This past weekend, one of my girlfriends (Brunchinista) coordinated a brunch for some of us blogger babes here in Portland at Tusk. As usual for an October day here in Oregon, the weather was questionable, but the forecast predicted a low chance of rain, but perfect fall temps. Since I was meeting up with some fashion-savvy babes, I needed to look cute, but not like I tried too hard (you know what I’m talking about…).

So I started with my favorite, go-to high-waisted black distressed jeans from Express and added to my outfit from there. What I love about these jeans is they are high-waisted and have lots of stretch in them – making them perfect for a Sunday brunch 😉

I paired them with this super comfy, cozy cropped sweater, in the most perfect fall color. It’s not quite a true mustard yellow, it’s a little muted and has more of an olive green undertone, which works well with my hair color and olive skin tone. I just received it in the mail from my friend’s online boutique and couldn’t wait to wear it!

Originally, I put on some black ankle booties, and I just wasn’t feeling the all-black look with the mustard-colored sweater (strangely enough). So I threw on these cognac heeled booties and it was like magic – they brought life to my fall outfit! I kept the accessories simple with my new favorite leather (super light!) earrings and some vintage turquoise rings and I was good to go.

Thank you! Right? It took me awhile to try it out, but once I tried the brown/black combo, I loved it!
