I’m a 30-something widow, coffee addict, flower lover, native Okie living my bonus days here in Oregon wine country with my boyfriend, Chris, and my black golden retriever, Tank! How I got to Oregon from Oklahoma is a whole story in itself, so I’ll save that for another blog post or 2.
I started my original blog, Portrayal of Hope, with my late husband, Kenny, in April 2015. We wanted to share our story and journey as we battled cancer together as a couple. Not only did we want to keep friends and family informed about his health and progress, but we also wanted to offer hope and encouragement for other couples battling cancer together. Unfortunately, shortly after we began the blog, he passed away from his long 11-year battle with Ewings Sarcoma on May 30, 2015.
Although it was something we wanted to do together, I decided to continue the blog to simply journal and collect all my thoughts in one place as I embarked on a new journey of discovering hope & courage after loss.
After a couple years of writing at Portrayal of Hope, I realized the direction of my writing started to change. My passion and desire to inspire others grew, and I want to help others embrace the mantra – every day is a bonus day.
You may be wondering –
what is a “bonus day?”
Simply put, a bonus day is a day in which we wake up and have a chance to live out our dreams, goals, and passions.
I write to provide hope and courage through my stories of inspired living so that you will feel inspired and have the courage to live out your bonus days to their fullest potential.
So, hello and welcome to YOUR bonus days!
Whether you’ve lost a spouse, child, been through a divorce, or have simply lost yourself and want to find you again, my hope is you can find courage, guidance, and comfort when reading this blog.
Take a look around, don’t be afraid to reach out, ask me questions, tell me a little about yourself – I’m an open book and love getting to know my readers and their stories.
